VA Rocky Mountain Network

About the VA Rocky Mountain Network

The VA Rocky Mountain Network (VISN 19) is located in Glendale, Colo., and was established in March 1996 as one of 21 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) in the Veterans Health Administration. VISN 19 functions as the responsible structure for the planning, budgeting, and service delivery in the provision of healthcare to Veterans within our geographic region.

VISN 19 spans a geographic area of 540,000 square miles across 10 states and is the largest VISN in terms of geographic area in the 48 contiguous states. VISN 19 serves an area covering the states of Colorado, Montana, Oklahoma, Utah, Wyoming, and portions of Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada and Texas. The topography includes the Rocky Mountains, arid regions and areas subject to extreme winter weather. Significant travel distances exist between VA healthcare facilities throughout VISN 19. It is estimated over 1,000,000 Veterans reside within VISN 19's geographic boundaries.

To provide medical care, VISN 19 operates 8 Health Care Systems (HCS) - VA Eastern Colorado HCS, VA Montana HCS, Eastern Oklahoma VA HCS, Oklahoma City VA HCS, VA Salt Lake City HCS and Sheridan HCS; 2 hospitals - Cheyenne VA Medical Center, and Grand Junction VA Medical Center; and 123 additional sites of care.  In addition to providing health care, VISN 19 also has missions to provide training for health care professionals; to conduct medical research; to serve as a contingency backup to DoD medical services; and, during national emergencies, to support the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS).

Our Mission:  VA Rocky Mountain Network will honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional healthcare that improved their health well-being.

Our Vision:  To be a comprehensive, integrated healthcare system providing excellence in healthcare value, excellence in service as defined by our Veteran patients, and excellence in education and research.
